Two guitars, one moog, a drum machine and a microphone form the tapestry of sound that is Manhattan-based Dead Combo.

Composed of Finnish underground rockers-- Nuutti Kataja on vocals, guitar & moog and Harri Kupiainen on guitar-- Dead Combo features two veterans of the scene who didn't even think to collaborate until 7 years after their first meeting in a New York City bar. One late November night in 2002 a mutual friend asked if Harri & Nuutti wanted to play at a party he was throwing. Later that night, they agreed. Little did they realize that this spontaneous collaboration would become the birth of Dead Combo.

Pre-Dead Combo, Harri toured from coast to coast with his band Piss Factory (Relativity Records), playing live dates with Everclear and Babes in Toyland, among others. Harri's next group, NYC rockers Emma Peel (Sympathy For The Record Industry) included members of such NY bands as Pussy Galore, Foetus, and PainTeens.

Nuutti did time in Miami punk band The Stimulators, which included members from hardcore bands Agnostic Front and Murphy's Law. Opening up for bands like Marilyn Manson and Bad Religion, they self-released a CD. Nuutti's next band Unhinged (United Snakes) formed in Dallas, moved to New York and toured cross-country with Emma Peel. A garage-y rockabilly soundtrack band, Unhinged self-released one EP and one single. Nuutti's last band, American Pop, was a psychedelic go-go dance band that dissolved after three years on the New York circuit.

Since their decision to play for their friend's party, Dead Combo has continued to play regular dates around New York City. In April of 2003, they toured Buenos Aires, Argentina, which included a live radio interview and broadcast debut of their single "You Don't Look So Good." Their collaborations with other artists include a music video for "You Don't Look So Good" shot by legendary director Abel Ferrara and a remix of Nick Esch (formerly of KMFDM)'s song "I Feel Fine" for his band Slick Idiot. In addition, both halves of Dead Combo DJ regularly around New York City and have participated in photo shoots for various photographers.
